Tiny Letter #10, Sept 2023
Hello dear TinyLetterers,
a tiny missive to let you know of an event this Wed night that you don’t want to miss, and a first peek at two brand new Zoom workshops whose booking pages just went live today!
I am thrilled to be hosting a How I Write Arvon online event with the amazing New Zealand flash writer and poet, Frankie McMillan, joining us live from Christchurch this Wed Sept 20th, 7.15pm UK time! I fell in love with Frankie’s wondrous flash fictions when I was asked to pick my favourites for the 2021 Best Microfictions anthology - she also has a book with “octopus” in the title, so it was clear she and I would be fast friends. I can’t wait to hear her read her work and talk about how she does what she does, and what the words “story”, “poem” and “hybrid” might mean to her. Tickets are pay-what-you-can, grab yours here and join us tomorrow: https://www.arvon.org/writing-courses/courses-retreats/how-i-write-frankie-mcmillan-2/
And you heard it first here: following up on my poetry-for-prose-writers course, I’m now tempting poets to tiptoe towards prose with two Flash Fiction for Poets Zoom workshops for the Poetry Business. The first workshop, on Tues Nov 14 at 11am UK time, is an Introduction to Flash Fiction, the tiniest of short stories; the second, on Tues Dec 12th, will be a Science-Flavoured Flash Fiction for Poets workshop. Come join us for one or the other – or both! Places are limited and bursaries are available. Find out more here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thepoetrybusiness/974553 for Nov 14 and here for Dec 12th (blurb update coming soon): https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thepoetrybusiness/1012640
