This is a really appreciated and thoughtful approach - your substack is one of the very few I’ve subscribed to, because it all gets a bit overwhelming in the inbox, and it’s also so hard to know how long to be a paid subscriber somewhere without it feeling awkward to change when income fluctuates etc! I will probs take up the free subscription and also will keep paying as often as I can for workshops etc. The ability to be fluid is really great. Hope you still get the resource you need flowing through by making this generous change.
It is my pleasure, and really I am doing this for me too because I just wasn't comfortable with this revenue-focussed set-up at all. That's not what motivates me, not what I consider "success".
My pleasure, Kim, I am more interested in creating community and opening up opportunities than in "maximising revenue", that's not what's important to me.
as someone who lives on a very fixed income, i cannot tell you how much i appreciate your generosity...not just monetarily, but of your effort and time as well. i‘ve returned to writing after several decades of "real" (ugh) work and am finding so much joy that i'd forgotten. but even a few dollars can make my budget feel a strain (anyone remember the days of their youth and trying to make $65 last a month? ).
i’m excited to become a new subscriber. thank you so much for that opportunity.
So very glad to hear you're finding the joy in writing again and delighted if I have contributed to that in any way. Lovely to have you with us, Kathlene!
Tania—so generous, as always. I just can’t do more paid or unpaid subscriptions of any kind anywhere! It’s all gone bonkers! LOL
But your workshops are unique and, if I may, please keep option open for those who can contribute something to take them. Meaning, I would be happy to contribute towards a workshop when and if it aligns!
it's so kind of you to even take the time to explain why you aren't taking the offer - no need at all! I completely understand it's gone bonkers which is exactly why I didn't want to just make all my three monthly posts free to everyone, I wanted to give people the choice to do something that would add to what comes in to their Inboxes.
And you never have to worry, all the workshops I run will ALWAYS have a free and half price ticket options, in fact I am going to move towards a Pay What You Want system (including free tickets) for future workshops, I think, just have to work out how to do it.
Hope you are well, too - and not feeling too bombarded!

That is very kind of you! I shall carry on accessing the workshops and paying a concession fee or more if I can.
Thanks, Lou, this was something I felt an urgent need to do, the set-up just wasn't working for me.
